Gallipoli

We dedicate this blog to our brother in law Ken Rigby who passed away several days ago. We know Ken would have loved to visit Gallipoli

What a day!  I had always wanted to visit Gallipoli bit never in my wildest dreams did I envisage riding to from London to Gallipoli on a motorbike with my dear wife on the back!  Life does takes some strange turns!

Visiting Gallipoli touches the emotions big time. Words cannot really capture it so I leave it to the pictures to tell the story

Then in asombre and reflective mood we catch the ferry across the Dardanelles to Canakkule.

We stay right on the waterfront with a lovely esplanade. Canakkule is very much a University town with a large student population - according to Lonely Planet !  Just along from the hotel is the wooden horse of Troy. It looks a bit like a Trojan Horse to me!   Brad Pitt has apparently jumped out of it ! Troy itself is about 30 km away

The esplanade in the setting sun is lovely and family friendly

And thus the sun sets on another interesting day
